Neko Sharkey

Pastor Neko Sharkey (affectionately known as “Bishop”) currently serves NHBC of Memphis as the Pastor of Outreach/In-Reach and Media. In addition to these roles he fills in virtually any capacity Pastor Robert J. Matthews needs him to including but not limited to Preaching and Teaching. He is married to Catrice Sharkey. Together they have 3 daughters, Kelsi, Bailee, and Trinity. Bishop (as he is affectionately called by church family and those he has mentored) may be the poster child for what the NHBC School of Ministry can produce. This “Church Planter” at heart is the epitome of being a home-grown son of NHBC of Memphis! Baptized at NHBC by Pastor Robert J. Matthews in 1990 (Age 11), was mentored as a teen by Executive Pastor Lee C. Lauderdale, became Jr. Sunday School Superintendent in 1997 at age 16, was was licensed to preach and teach the Word at in 2003, and received Pastoral ordination in 2004.

Under that foundation he has been blessed to serve NHBC as well as the Kingdom at large in many leadership capacities throughout the years which have included but are not limited to: Youth & Young Adult Pastor (NHBC of Memphis, 2005-2007), Pastor of Students, College, and Young Adults (Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church, Disciples of Christ 2008-2010), Pastor of Family Ministries (Faith Church 2011-2013, United Methodist church plant), and Interim Pastor of Teaching & Worship (Bridge Memphis Church 2013-2015, Southern Baptist Convention church plant), and Interim  Discipleship Pastor (Rock Church Memphis – 2015), and Executive Director of Neighborhood Outreach Ministries (Oasis of Hope 501c3 2016-2018/Hope Church).

His apostolic journey has afforded him the opportunity to lead and develop ministries in seven (7) denominations which is nothing less than unique and speaks to his riches of God given gifts and talents! No matter where God has called him to, he has always returned home to NHBC of Memphis to serve the congregation who raised him. Bishop founded a Mentoring Program named “Alpha & Omega” in 2010 and still mentors 150+ young adult believers who are now either building families, entrepreneurs, working professionals, or college students across the country.
